Why Professional Dental Cleaning?

Even if you brush thoroughly at home — there are areas your toothbrush simply can't reach. Between teeth, below the gumline, the back molars. That's where plaque accumulates, hardens into tartar, and can eventually lead to cavities and gum problems.

Professional dental hygiene removes exactly this buildup — and gives you the feeling of truly clean teeth. We also advise you individually on how to optimise your care at home.

How the Treatment Works

01

Assessment & Consultation

First, we take a close look at your teeth and gums. Where is there buildup? Are there areas that need special attention? We explain what we see and what we recommend.

02

Tartar Removal

Using ultrasound and fine hand instruments, we remove tartar and hard deposits — above and below the gumline. It's thorough but gentle. We treat sensitive areas with extra care.

03

Polishing & Care

After cleaning, the tooth surfaces are polished. This doesn't just feel smoother — new deposits also have a harder time adhering to polished teeth. Finally, we apply a fluoride gel to strengthen the enamel.

04

Tips for Home Care

At the end, we show you where to pay special attention — and which tools are best suited for you personally. Because good care at home makes all the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I come for dental hygiene?

We recommend twice a year — that's a good rhythm for most people. For gum problems or higher risk, shorter intervals may be advisable. We discuss this individually with you.

Is professional dental cleaning painful?

Generally not. Some areas may be briefly sensitive, especially if the gums are inflamed. We work gently and adjust the pressure. If it becomes uncomfortable, let us know — we'll find a solution.

How long does an appointment take?

Plan for about 45 to 60 minutes. This depends on how much tartar is present and whether certain areas need more time. We take the time that's needed.

Does dental hygiene replace daily brushing?

No — it complements it. Professional cleaning removes what accumulates despite good care. But your daily routine with toothbrush, floss, or interdental brushes remains the foundation of healthy teeth.
